Equal Opportunity Schools and the Oklahoma Public School Resource Center (OPSRC) are hosting a regional convening at 8:30 a.m. on January 9, 2019, at the Oklahoma City OPSRC offices (309 NW 13th Street, Suite 103, OKC, OK 73103. This event is for select Oklahoma district leaders interested in achieving equitable access to rigorous high school coursework across race and socioeconomic status in their schools. EOS and OPSRC will share local and regional level opportunity gap analysis and research and solutions for addressing equity and excellence gaps.


Event attendees will learn:

  • How to identify equity gaps in access to college-level courses.
  • Strategies to engage students previously overlooked for advanced courses.
  • Ways to identify the readiness of low-income students & students of color for college-level courses.
  • The impact equitable access to AP/IB has on student achievement, school culture and student and adult mindsets.
  • How leaders can implement a true, equity-focused partnership.
  • About standout Oklahoma high schools creating equity in their college-level courses by building on the success of their best teachers and strongest academic programs.

Attendance qualifies you to apply for the 2019-20 Action for Equity cohort. Cohort members receive matching grant dollars for coaching, data-driven analysis and strategic advising, technical tools and reports and support in shifting adult mindsets when identifying and enrolling low-income students and students of color who are capable of being successful in but not yet enrolled in rigorous AP/IB courses.
