Byte-sized Tech PD Whenever You Want It

In February, the OPSRC tech team started providing 30-minute live PD sessions on individual tech tools each week. The PD sessions are scheduled around lunch on Tuesdays and after school on Thursdays. Kashuan Hopkins has covered many popular tools over the last 4 months, including:

  • Adobe Spark Post
  • Google Slides
  • Book Creator
  • Seesaw
  • Adobe Spark Video
  • Flipgrid
  • YouTube
  • Adobe Spark Page
  • Google Sites
  • Blogger
  • Weebly
  • Google Forms
  • Quizizz

Each of these events was recorded, and we have placed them online for teachers to watch anytime they want to learn a new classroom tool or want a quick refresher.

We continue to add to the collection with more live events scheduled. The next two events will be:

  • Kahoot!: Game-based learning and assessment platform
  • Nearpod: Interactive presentations that allow for student feedback

You can participate in the events live on Tuesdays at 11:30 or on Thursdays at 3:30. Learn more and register today.

If you know of a tool not included above that you really enjoy or one you have heard about and would like to learn more about, let us know. We are always looking for new tools to add to our list. Suggest a tool for us to cover.

Please give us your feedback on these byte-sized PD sessions--we'll take the positive and the negative! Is there a better time? Should the sessions be shorter or longer? Let us know at techteam@opsrc.net.

Transitioning to the NEW

Happy 2016!! As I welcome in the new year, I always begin the “cleanse”–going through closets and chunking items I no longer want or that fit, ridding the kitchen cabinets of expired food and actually wiping off the refrigerator shelves (can finally see them after all of the holiday food is out). I know for many this is a time of the 21-day “diet-cleanse,” renewed gym memberships and even the 21-day “financial cleanse.”
