Jamila MacArthur serves as OPSRC's Director of Teaching & Learning. In this role, she will lead the team to further expand quality professional development for public schools, including more robust online training offerings. She will also focus on strengthening collaborative partnerships with schools to further develop innovative strategies that increase student achievement. Among her many certifications, she was recently approved as a Summit Learning Certified Support Partner and as as a Tulsa Model Evaluator.
A Clinton, Oklahoma native, Jamila began her career in education as a teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District. After teaching several years, she began coaching teachers with the Mayor’s Partnership for Los Angeles Schools. She then joined KIPP Los Angeles Schools and served as an intervention teacher, instructional support manager and assistant principal. In 2012, she returned to Oklahoma to found Tulsa Lighthouse Charter School, known now as Tulsa Legacy Charter School, where she served as the founding principal and chief academic officer of almost 600 students in grades PK-8.
