The Oklahoma Public School Resource Center (OPSRC) has announced the launch of its inaugural Breakthrough School Awards, recognizing public schools and districts across Oklahoma that demonstrate measurable academic growth, strong instructional leadership and meaningful student support.
“Across Oklahoma, schools are doing extraordinary work to move students forward,” said OPSRC Executive Director Dr. April Grace. “The Breakthrough School Awards are about shining a light on that progress through a thoughtful, data-driven approach that allows us to learn from schools and districts that are moving the needle for students in our state.”
Schools will be recognized for three grade categories — elementary, K-8 and K-12 districts — with honors in four award categories: Overcomer, Sustainability, Platinum 70 and Platinum 70 Plus. The inaugural Breakthrough School Awards are sponsored by American Fidelity and GES, LLC.
The Overcomer Award highlights schools making significant gains in student outcomes, including reading and math. The Sustainability Award recognizes consistent, high-level performance over multiple years.
The Platinum 70 and Platinum 70 Plus Awards honor top-performing districts across key measures, including graduation rates and postsecondary opportunities, while also accounting for the communities they serve based on the percentage of students who qualify for free and reduced-price lunches.
A total of 24 awards will be presented during the inaugural ceremony. Winners will be announced at the Oklahoma School Innovation Summit, June 3—4, 2026, at Embassy Suites in Norman. The event will bring together educators and leaders from across the state to share best practices and celebrate innovation in Oklahoma schools.
